Teen Birthday

My Great neice is turning 17, it is crazy how fast these kids are growing :)  Living out of state I don't get to see them as much so when I do, I remember how they looked the last time.

I started off with a DCWV card base, then added background paper and circles from the DCWV Garden Party paper stack.
The circles were cut with a Spellbinder die.
Studio G sentiment stamp
Me & my big ideas gems
Forever in time Button w twine from LSS
EK success flower punch and paper dot

We had some rain yesterday!!!!!   It was just at the time we were starting our Church service and we could all hear it hitting the roof, what a wonderful sound that was, we could still use a whole lot more, but I am very thankful for whatever we receive.

Hope you are having a good start to your week,

Update on my daughter Amanda, She had her check up for her Gum grafting and he said she has done a great job with taking care of them and everything looks great.  She still has to watch what she eats for the next  4 weeks but it looks like it is all healing well.  She will have her final check on August 8th to make sure it is still doing well but we are so thankful that everything has taken and hope it stays that way.  The pain she was having was from the dried glue that they use instead of stitching the graft on, so now that it has been removed she should be feeling much better soon.  Says it still hurts at times if she has been laughing too much, but so far so good :)

Stash Scraps

My pile of little scraps is building up so I challenged myself to only use papers from my stash of Scraps, there is no order to my extra scraps of paper, I see how others organize it in colors or manufactures but mine is just all thrown into a plastic container and I need to challenge myself to this a little bit more, so that it isn't overflowing  :)

There is a little bit of Basic Grey Paper, K&co. and Tim Holtz's Shabby paper pad.

Lace is from my stash and I used my sew easy to do the stitching between the paper strip and the lace, it takes practice but I am glad that I was able to line it up pretty good.

Spellbinder Carnation Creation die, I used 3 different sizes and two of each size.
Basic Grey brad for the center.
Spellbinder Bitty Blossom die for the leaves, did a little inking on them also.

Spellbinder tag die with Studio G sentiment stamp.

Brads on tag are from Queen &co.

Today my daughter finds out if her gum graft took, she is a bit nervous to hear what he has to say because her whole mouth feels pretty good except for her two front teeth and that has her worried it didn't take in the front.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by,
Connie

RainyDay SCJUL2012

Susan did another sketch, you can find it HERE and I thought I would try and do two challenges at once, that may have been my first mistake, LOL!  But I thought I would share anyway.  Barb has been doing what she calls Moldie Mondays were she uses some of her much old papers you can find her post HERE and that is where I probably went wrong, well when I was putting it together I thought it worked but when my husband saw it he made this face like it hurt to look at it, and I saw it in a whole different light, LOL!

The base paper and the white paper behind the flower are all from a pack of loose papers my daughter gave me the first Christmas after I started making my own cards, that has got to be at least  9 or 10 years ago.....Yep it is hard for me to get rid of things :(  The  Aqua paper allready had the stitching on it and the white is like handmade paper with specs in it.

Marcella dimensional Stickers (Flower) from 2004
K&co. paper (the square piece)
Spellbinders Labels 3 and Square dies
Offray Ribbon
Half Scallop punch is McGill and the sentiment has been stamped on it
Lace and the gem border are a RAK from Sabrina

The sentiment I added was not part of the sketch but I didn't know how else I was going to add a sentiment to it.

Summer scene

I bought this memory box die a little while ago and I just loved it but not sure how I was going to use it, so the other day I got it out and started going thru my stamps and I found one that I thought just might work with it :)

Memory Box , Orchard Tree Frame, I cut out the cardstock around the die and added stickles to the leaves.  I did a little shading around the cardstock before adding the die to the cardstock.

PSX Birdhouse Bench stamp, colored with markers.

Well we didn't get any of that much needed rain, it all went to the south of us, but this morning had a bit of a cooler breeze so I went out and watered my garden, today and tomorrow will be in the high 90's then back to the 100's starting Sunday thru the whole next week.  The poor grass is crunchy walking thru it, Peanut looks at it like why is this hurting my paws, it's too cute!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and leaving comments :)

Thank you all for your well wishes for Amanda, she is doing much better with her teeth, it is easier for her to talk and the roof of her mouth is healing well.  We won't know if the graft took until next Tuesday, this waiting is crazy. She still can't eat solid food since all the work has been done along her bottom teeth their is no safe place to chew yet, hopefully she will get the green light on that next Tuesday.  She has been staying here but she misses her hubby and he is really missing her (and her cooking)  so she is going home for the rest of the week.

Saw on the news last night how much rain is needed over most of our country, praying God will bless us soon.  Another scorcher today, we are back in the 100's again.

Hope your having a good week,

Woke up to a Beautiful cool morning, that feels so good to be able to go out and get some work done in the mornings before it gets too hot instead of waking up and it allready being too hot, Peanut has even been enjoying it alot more :)

My daughter is staying with us for the week, she just went through Gum Grafting surgery and ended up getting 6 teeth done all at once, she is pretty sore and very hungry because she says it hurts too much to even try to drink her smoothies, but she is drinking some now, very slowly but at least I feel better about her getting something good inside her.

Hope your all enjoying your week and staying cool,

Spellbinder Classic Rectangle Large and Scalloped Squares
Fiskar Corner punches

Our prayers have been answered we received rain last night and it is still a bit cloudy this morning so it has a little more time to soak in and it smells nice and fresh out there now, it was so dusty smelling before. Woke up this morning to 79 degrees hasn't been that low in the morning in a long time, feels great!!   I hope others were able to get some relief from the heat without too bad of storms we had some strong winds and heavy rain but it didn't last too long, but I know that some in Missouri were hit hard yesterday afternoon.

Hope your enjoying your weekend,
Thanks so much for stopping by,

ODBDSLC 114

Our Daily Bread designs is having another challenge on their blog you can find it here .
This is an easy one you just use any of their stamps.  I needed a quick card for my husbands Uncle who just suffered a heart attack and can't have surgery until he can get his kidneys functioning well. I thought this sentiment and image would be perfect for him.

I used Keep My Lamp Burning stamp set from Our Daily Bread designs.  Stamped with Brown Momento ink onto BasicGrey Kioshi paper.  Sentiment is from same stamp set and both have been layered onto black cardstock.  I distressed the image a little bit.

Spellbinder Curved Rectangles for sentiment.

BasicGrey Kraft paper pad for the background paper

Rhinestones on two corners from Michaels.

Good news they are saying we may have a break from these temps on Sunday and have a chance of rain on Monday, we so need it around here.  We have had 3 straight days of record breaking temps and my Thermometer says 110 at 5:30 pm, we are even setting records for record lows for the evenings.  I can't imagine what the people out east are doing with no power and I feel for those who have lost their homes in the fires in Colorado.

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by,
Connie

Happy Independence Day

Hope you all are enjoying your 4th Celebrations.  We have been in the 100's for over a week now, so they have cancelled the fireworks that we normally go to because of excessive heat and dry conditions, we have not had rain in quite awhile either.  We had allready decided that we probably would not be going, just too hot for us anyway.

Onto the card.... I have been watching the videos that papertrey ink does on their flower stamping so I thought I would give it a try, I still need practice.  The flower in the right hand corner has been cut out and popped up.

I used Inkadinkado Nature stamp set (flowers and leaves)
Inkadinkado All Occasions stamp set for sentiment
Gems for center of big flowers
Button from stash and Twine from LSS

I also thought I would share my first pickings from my garden, these were picked a few weeks ago, I just kept forgetting to post it.  I thought I was planting all green pepper plants and I accidentally bought banana pepper plants, not sure what to do with them, if anyone has any ideas I would love if you shared them with me :)

I accidentally knocked off that little green pepper when trying to pick one of the big ones.

Wishing you all a safe and fun day today!

We went up to the church our Daughter and Son in law attend and our Son in law preached, he did an excellent job, hope they can find a church that feels home to them when they move to Boston, that isn't always easy to find, as we know from moving around so much in the Air Force.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend and your week is starting off well,
Thanks so much for taking the time out to stop by,
